ERIC ACHER – Partner
Prior to founding Monashees Capital, Eric led the Latin American practice of General Atlantic, a global private equity investment firm; As angel investor, participated in the creation and development of Propay, an HR process outsourcing services provider, and BFC- Brazilian Food Corporation, a casual dinning restaurant chain operator; Before his experience with private equity and venture capital, Eric acted as Product Director at Unibanco Asset Management, Strategic Planning Director at Unibanco, and as management consultant at McKinsey & Company for five years, in their São Paulo and Chicago offices; Holds a Diploma in Business Administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas, a B.A. from ESPM and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
FABIO IGEL – Partner
Parallel to being a founding partner at Monashees Capital, Fabio is founding entrepreneur and owner of Rossignol do Brasil, a leading retailer specialized in functional clothing and equipment for winter and mountain sports; Between 1986 and 1994, Fabio was a professional skier and participated in several high-level international ski tournaments, including 4 world championships and the Winter Olympic games of Albertville, France, in 1992; Board Member of Grupo Ultra since 1997; Holds a B.A. in Hotel Management from Hosta university in Leysin, Switzerland.
CARLO DAPUZZO – Senior Associate
Prior to joining Monashees Capital, Carlo worked as Case Team Member with the Monitor Group, an international strategic management consulting company, where he participated in several projects: the organizational restructuring of the marketing area for a leading international consumer goods company, adapting it to a new global marketing model; the strategic branding repositioning for a leading international food & beverage company; and the development of an innovation management platform for a Brazilian basic materials conglomerate; Created and developed the entertainment website animaluco.com.br, voted Top10 in its category in the iBest Awards 2001; Holds a B.S. in Production Engineering from Escola Politécnica, USP, with a one-year scholarship at McGill University, Montreal, Canada.
LEONARDO DIAS – Analyst
Before the commencement of his activities at Monashees Capital, Leonardo acted as a Telecom Analyst at Visa do Brasil, a company that creates and manages electronic ways of payment and at Visanet, a credit and debt transactions acquirer for several payment companies. Leonardo is a Business Administration student at FEA – USP.
MARIO BETHLEM – Counselor
Former CEO of IBM-Brazil, where he worked for 35 years in several executive roles in Brazil and other countries in Latin America; Acts as a Special Advisor to General Atlantic, a leading private equity investment firm; Global Advisor to Endeavor, a global not-for-profit organization supporting entrepreneurship; Advisory Board Member of ABVCAP – Private Equity and Venture Capital Brazilian Association; Chairman of the Board of Propay, a leading HR process outsourcing company; Board Member of Automatos, Inc., an “IT Intelligence” company; B.S. in Electronic Engineering from ITA – Instituto Tecnológico da Aeronáutica.
MIGUEL NICOLELIS – Counselor
Dr. Miguel Nicolelis is the Anne W. Deane Professor of Neuroscience and Professor of Neurobiology, Biomedical Engineering and Psychology at Duke University. He is also Co-Director of Duke Center for Neuroengineering; Professor of Neuroscience at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) and Co-Founder and Scientific Director of the Edmond and Lily Safra International Institute for Neuroscience of Natal; At Duke, Dr. Nicolelis leads a team of 30 researchers that use robotics and neuroengineering to develop neuroprosthetics to restore mobility to paralyzed patients due to trauma or central nervous system degeneration. He brought his research to Brazil through a partnership with Hospital Sírio Libanês in São Paulo, where neuroprosthetic implants will be undertaken in patients with severe paralyses. In his labs he also studies the neurophysiological mechanisms and possible new therapies to treat Parkinson's disease. Received 32 international awards, wrote 5 books and published 102 articles, seven of which on Science and Nature, renowned scientific magazines; Named by Scientific American Magazine one of the 20 most important scientists in the world today; Dr. Nicolelis is a native of Sao Paulo, Brazil where he received his M.D. and Ph.D. in Neurophysiology from the University of Sao Paulo. In 1989 started postdoctoral work at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia..
PEDRO WONGTSCHOWSKI – Counselor
President of Ultrapar Participações S.A., until 2006 was Superintendent Director of Oxiteno S.A., a leading Brazilian chemical company; Member of the Superior Council of the Brazilian Chemical Engineering Association (ABEQ); Vice-president of the Directive Council of the Brazilian Chemical Industry Association (Abiquim); Vice-president of the Latin American Chemical and Petrochemical Association (APLA); Acted as Chairman of the “International Petrochemical Information Forum”; Member of “CEO Task-Force on Responsible Care”; Member of “CEO Global Dialogue”; In 1983 received the Rio de Janeiro Chemical Union Award; In 1996 received the “Fritz Feigl Award”, the most important award of the chemical industry in Brazil; Author of “Chemical Industry – Risks and Opportunities”; Holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Masters and PhD in Engineering from Escola Politecnica, USP.
PATRICIA SALZANO – Administrative Coordinator
Prior to joining Monashees Capital, Patricia worked as Administrative Supervisor at Ambiterra Environmental Solutions, provider of environmental services and as Administrative Assistant at Amdex Comercial Industrial, a security equipment company; Holds a B.A. from Universidade São Judas Tadeu and a Post-Graduation course in Business Management from ESPM.
